The Dinner Party is an expression of decadence and debauchery as much as it’s about the joys of the kind of dinner party that stretches late into the evening. Using ceramics, textiles, and ready-made objects, the project takes its inspiration from the pages of vintage cookbooks. A dinner scene without people, The Dinner Party is about the traces we leave behind. The ceramic food appears both ripe and spent, enticing and repulsive, strange and familiar, inviting viewers to reminisce on their own unhinged dinner parties of yore.

The ceramic objects include functional items (incense holders, dishes, ashtrays, and candle holders) as well as purely sculptural objects.

The Dinner Party was initially mounted as part of a residency at Zebra Club in Vancouver, BC, from September to November, 2024.
